What channel is Canadian Grand Prix on today? F1 TV schedule, start time for 2024 Montreal race | Sporting News Canada

The 53rd edition of the Canadian Grand Prix gets underway on Sunday as the 2024 Formula One season continues at pace.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal is one of the most well-known tracks on the calendar, and will host the ninth race of the season, with the World Drivers’ Championship really starting to heat up.

The 20 drivers will tackle another street circuit — albeit one not quite on the level of compactness as Monaco last time out — on Notre Dame Island in Montreal, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc coming into the weekend in high spirits following his close-run victory on home soil in Monte Carlo two weeks ago.

A lowly sixth-placed finish for three-time defending world champion Max Verstappen has stalled his progress, but the Red Bull star will be keen to get back to winning ways as soon as possible and still holds a comfortable 31-point lead at the top of the current standings.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve lays in wait, and The Sporting News has all the TV and streaming details you need to catch this year’s Canadian Grand Prix.

When is the next F1 race after the Canadian Grand Prix?

The Canadian Grand Prix breaks up a big stretch of European races over the summer months of the 2024 Formula One season, coming just a few weeks after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy and the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo. After Montreal, we’ve got a string of European meetings in a row, starting with the Spanish Grand Prix.

Taking place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the country’s northeast, this year’s Spanish Grand Prix will be the latest in over 110 years of elite motorsport on the Iberian peninsula, the first such race being held in 1913. It’s been a fixture of the F1 calendar since 1951, moving to Barcelona from Jerez — both of which are still MotoGP circuits — in 1991.

Barcelona’s weekend of Formula 1 begins on Friday, June 21 as the three practice sessions get underway, leading into qualifying on Saturday, June 22 and race day proper on Sunday, June 23 at 3:00 p.m. local time (CEST). Following on from Spain, the European leg of races in 2024 continues with the Austrian Grand Prix on June 30.
