Niagara Falls is considered by many to be a bucket list staple, with millions of people from all over the world visiting each year. If you’re planning to stay for a few days, choosing the perfect location for your needs and wants is important.  

Travel experts at Niagara Falls Tours & Tickets have compiled a list of surrounding towns and cities from both the USA side and the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. A ranking was then created using several factors, like the number of restaurants and hotels, alongside traveller ratings from Tripadvisor, transportation services, and the distance in kilometres from the Falls.  

Niagara Falls, Canada, is in top spot, with a final score of 94.78. The city takes first place for number of restaurants, 381, and number of restaurants with a rating of four and above, 199, earning a perfect 10 for both categories. 

Niagara Falls, Canada, also has the greatest number of hotels, 222, scoring another 10. 86 of those have a Tripadvisor rating of four and above, awarding a score of 9.24 and coming second in this category. 

St Catharines, Canada, is in second place, with a final score of 77.63. The Garden City is further out at 24.3km away, scoring 5.30, coming seventh for distance from the falls. However, St Catharines offers three transportation services, the highest on the list, earning a score of 10. This makes the city a great alternative if you don’t want to stay right by the falls.  

St Catharines is also second for number of restaurants, only six less than Niagara Falls, Canada, awarding a score of 9.84. 

Niagara Falls, USA, is third on the list, with a final score of 75.77. The New York city is the closest to the falls, only 3km away, earning a score of 10. 

Niagara Falls, USA, is third for both number of hotels, 74, and number of hotels with a rating of four and above, 30, scoring 8.99 and 7.91, respectively.    

Niagara-on-the-lake, Canada, is fourth, with a final score of 56.66. Out of 199 hotels, 179 of them are rated four and above, earning first place in this category with a score of 10. 

Welland, Canada, comes fifth, with a final score of 42.63. The city has 87 restaurants, coming a respectable sixth for this category, awarding a score of 2.26. 

Fort Erie, Canada, places sixth, with a final score of 40.77.11 out of 14 hotels in the town are rated four and above, coming sixth and earning a score of 6.34. 

Tonawanda, USA, is seventh on the list, with a final score of 36.64. The city in New York State has 16 hotels, coming in sixth for this category. 

Lewiston, USA, is eighth, with a final score of 32.91. The town comes third for distance from the falls at only 11.9km away, earning a score of 8.04.  

Port Colbourne, Canada, comes ninth, with a final score of 31.82. The Canadian city is eighth for number of hotels, 62 to choose from, scoring 5.95. 

Lincoln, Canada, places tenth, with a final score of 31.10. The town on Lake Ontario places has 15 out of 18 hotels rated four and above, coming fifth for this category and earning a score of 6.86.
