The USA vs Canada rivalry
has a long history dating back to 1844
, when the two teams played against each other in a three-day match. That is considered to be the oldest rivalry in international cricket, with Australia and England playing only their first-ever Test match years later, in 1877. This tournament also happens to be the first-ever appearance at a T20 World Cup for both USA and Canada.

USA are led by captain Monank Singh, and while the squad has a few faces who have played Ranji Trophy cricket previously, it also features former New Zealand cricketer Corey Anderson. Anderson only made his USA debut in April this against Canada, scoring 28 and 55 runs in his first two matches. He followed it up with an unbeaten 34 against Bangladesh in the first match of a three-match series, which USA would eventually win 2-1.

Among the Indian-origin cricketers is ex Under-19 World Cup winner Harmeet Singh, who won the 2012 U19 World Cup with India. Other Indian-origin players include Nitish Kumar, Saurabh Netravalkar and Jasdeep Singh.

Canada, meanwhile, have pacer Jeremy Gordon and left-arm seamer Kaleem Sana in their squad that will be led by all-rounder Saad Bin Zafar. Among batters, Canada have the experienced Ravinderpaul Singh (589 runs from 29 matches) and Aaron Johnson, the country’s second highest run-scorer with 713 runs. Navneet Dhaliwal, Canada’s top scorer with 870 runs in T20Is, also acts as a crucial batter at the top-order.
