Top Picks and Predictions for CFL Week 4 Odds | Point Spreads
The first three weeks of the Canadian Football League season are in the books. It’s been feast or famine for most CFL teams. There are six teams that are undefeated or winless, with just three teams who are 1-1 or 2-1 in the early going. The biggest surprises are Saskatchewan racing out to a 3-0 start and Winnipeg stumbling out of the gate with an 0-3 record. The 2024 CFL Week 4 odds show Montreal as 3.5-point road favorites at Toronto in the biggest game on the week’s slate.
Elks vs Lions
📍Location: BC Place, Vancouver, British Columbia
⏰Day/Time:
📺Streaming: CFL+
This week’s CFL schedule begins with winless Edmonton (0-3) traveling to Vancouver to face the 2-1 Lions. British Columbia is coming off a big win over Winnipeg, who has been their nemesis the past few years. The CFL odds have British Columbia favored by 6 with a total of 52.5. The Lions opened -8.5, so there’s been some Edmonton money coming in. There’s no question British Columbia is by far the better team, but there could be a bit of a letdown after defeating the Blue Bombers. That could be one reason why there was a 2.5-point line move.
The Elks are 0-3, but have gone 2-1 against the point spread. Edmonton has three-point losses to both Toronto and Montreal, so they haven’t been outclassed. McLeod Bethel-Thompson has thrown for 978 yards and six TDs, but the team isn’t getting much from the ground game. The Elks have given up too many rushing yards, although the Lions like to throw.
British Columbia is also 2-1 against the spread and is riding the arm of Vernon Adams Jr. The Lions lead the league in passing yards, and Adams has six TD passes and just one interception. If he can keep the interceptions down, British Columbia could have a big year. The defense has been pretty average so far this season, but that’s good enough when the offense is clicking. Take British Columbia -6 points here.
Alouettes vs Argonauts
📍Location: BMO Field, Toronto, ON
⏰Day/Time: 📺Streaming: CFL+
The 2024 CFL Week 4 odds have the Alouettes favored by 3.5, with a total of 50.5. This is the best game of the bunch on the week’s slate, as it features a pair of undefeated teams. Montreal has started the season 3-0 and 2-1 against the spread. The Argonauts have splits their first two games ATS this season.
Montreal is leading the league in points allowed, but should get a pretty good test from Toronto in this one. The offense has been getting the job done, and Cody Fajardo is tied for the CFL lead with seven passing touchdowns.
The Argos have gotten decent production from quarterback Cameron Dukes. He’s thrown for five TDs through two games and hasn’t thrown an interception. The Alouettes will be the best defensive team he’s seen, however. Toronto has been able to run the ball, but Dukes could be asked to carry more of the load here. Toronto +3.5 offers the most value in this game.
Blue Bombers vs Stampeders
📍Location: McMahon Stadium, Calgary, AB
⏰Day/Time: 📺Streaming: CBS Sports Network
Winnipeg travels to Calgary looking to break into the win column for the first time. The 2024 CFL Week 4 odds have the Blue Bombers favored by 3 with a total of 47.5. The teams Winnipeg has lost to are a combined 6-2 this season. The Bombers have dropped their last two games by a combined six points, so they’re not getting completely outclassed. Zach Collaros hasn’t thrown for a touchdown yet and has been picked-off three times. He has thrown for 70 touchdowns the past two seasons.
QB Jake Maier has played well for Calgary. He has four touchdown passes and one interception this season in two games. Calgary is 1-1 in the CFL standings and against the spread. The Stampeders’ victory came against 0-3 Hamilton and they also lost to British Columbia.
Winnipeg has too many good players to keep coming up on the short end of the CFL scores and have to side with the Blue Bombers -3 in this one.
Tiger-Cats vs Redblacks
📍Location: TD Place Stadium, Ottawa, Ontario
⏰Day/Time:
📺Streaming: CBS Sports Network
The final game of the week sees Hamilton visit Ottawa and the Redblacks are favored by 1 with a total of 51.5. Bo Levi Mitchell has thrown for 975 yards and six touchdowns, but he’s also been intercepted a league-high five times. Hamilton is moving the ball, but not taking advantage of it. The Tiger-Cats are outgaining their opponents, but are -6 in turnovers.
Ottawa is 1-1 straight-up and against the spread. The Redblacks won just four games last season. This season is expected to be another tough one for the team. Ottawa isn’t going to be favored often, so it has to take advantage of those opportunities. Getting the job done on the field isn’t going to be quite so easy, so take the over in this game.
