The Secret To Helen Mirren’s Fitness at 79 Is A 12-Minute Exercise Routine Inspired From The Ca
At 79, actress Helen Mirren has revealed the secret to maintaining her youthful appearance: a strict exercise routine she has followed since the 1960s, which she has no plans to abandon. As she nears her 80th birthday later this year, Helen continues to stay in top shape through a regimen based on a Canadian military workout from the 1950s.
What is the 12-minute workout?
This workout, designed by Dr. Bill Orban to improve the fitness of Canadian Air Force recruits, includes exercises like toe-touching, knee-raises, jumping, leg lifts, and push-ups. Despite the rising costs of gym memberships, Helen insists that the routine can be done anywhere without much equipment.
In an interview with Mirror.co.uk, Helen shared her enthusiasm for the Canadian Air Force women’s 12-minute exercise program, stating, “It starts off very easy, but if you stick with it, it can get quite challenging.” She admitted that she has never advanced past the second level, but she appreciates the simplicity and effectiveness of the routine. “It’s not extreme, but you need to do it every day,” she noted, adding that the program is about taking control of your body.
The 10-step routine includes exercises such as toe touching, knee raises, lateral bends, arm circles, sit-ups, push-ups, and leg lifts. The workout is designed to be efficient, offering benefits in just 12 minutes.
Helen Mirren’s cheat meals
While committed to her fitness, Helen has occasionally indulged in her love for fish and chips, saying, “I’m the first one at the fish and chips.” She also believes in nurturing well-being from the inside out, emphasizing the impact of diet on mental health. “What you put inside your body affects how you feel about yourself, so start there,” she advised.
