The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Canada to Return for Second Annual Event
The Hollywood Reporter will bring its Women in Entertainment brand back for a second annual event in Canada, it was announced Thursday.
The upcoming Women in Entertainment Canada summit, to take place May 29 in Toronto, will bring together the Canadian industry across TV, film and music to celebrate and recognize the achievements of women driving the industry forward.
The event’s return follows a successful first-ever WIE Canada summit on May 30 that was attended by iconic Canadian entertainers in the TV, film and music fields like Lilly Singh, Nia Vardalos, Devery Jacobs, Kim Cattrall, Catherine Reitman and Jully Black.
“The inaugural WIE Canada was a huge success, and a wonderful extension of our premiere event,” said Nekesa Mumbi Moody and Maer Roshan, co-editors-in-chiefs of The Hollywood Reporter. “We are delighted to see it return for its second year, and to continue this amazing partnership we have forged. To have the chance to celebrate the amazing achievements of Canadian women in this industry is a wonderful opportunity and we are incredibly honored to be a part of this.”
THR will once again partner with Access Canada for the second WIE Canada event. “Access Canada is thrilled to announce the return of Women in Entertainment Canada for 2025,” said Ferne Cohen, president of Access Canada. “We are proud to continue our collaboration with The Hollywood Reporter to highlight the incredible women of the Canadian entertainment industry. We remain committed to presenting an authentically Canadian, impactful, and uplifting event inspired by The Hollywood Reporter’s great legacy.”
THR will publish its second annual Canadian Women in Entertainment power list alongside the 2025 event to focus on continuing efforts to achieve gender equity and career breakthroughs for Canadian women throughout the entertainment sector.
In addition to the return of keynotes, panel discussions and tribute awards, the 2025 WIE Canada event will also include a mentorship program.
