Star Sports partners with GT20 Canada to broadcast live action in India
The league phase of the tournament runs from July 25 to August 6, with each of the six franchises playing seven matches. The playoff stage starts on August 9, with the final scheduled for August 11. Tickets are available on the official website.
Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah from Bombay Sports said that India’s cricket-heavy audience and Star Sports’ position as the home of cricket make this collaboration significant for delivering world-class cricket entertainment across the country.
After the tournament opener, the next 10 league match-days will feature double-headers. There will be 21 league games over 13 days, including two non-match days, followed by four playoff games.
The double-header action begins with the Bangla Tigers Mississauga, featuring Shakib Al Hasan, against the 2023 Champions, Montreal Tigers, led by Chris Lynn. This will be followed by the Brampton Wolves, featuring David Warner, against the Surrey Jaguars, with Marcus Stoinis, on July 26.
Star Sports, known for its extensive cricket portfolio, broadcasts events such as the ICC T20 World Cup, Indian Premier League, and Big Bash League, among others. The first league matches are scheduled for 8:30 PM IST (11:00 AM local time) in Brampton, Ontario, with the second match at 1:30 AM IST (4:00 PM local time).GT20 Canada aims to popularise cricket and build a strong cricketing ecosystem in Canada and North America. The league is established on the global cricket calendar and continues to provide a platform for performances from homegrown and international stars. This season follows Canada’s debut at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, highlighting the league’s significance in the region’s cricket development.
