As the halfway point of the 2024-25 NFL season nears, Week 8 features a number of pivotal matchups as certain teams try to steer back on track.
The Cowboys (3-3) and 49ers (3-4) are each within a game of a playoff spot, despite seasons of fits and bursts. Can Brock Purdy shake off a three-interception showing in last week’s Super Bowl rematch? What about the Cowboys, who suffered a blowout loss on the other side of their bye week?
Elsewhere in the NFC, the Falcons (4-3) and the Buccaneers (4-3) play for first place in the NFC South, just a few weeks after their barnburner on Thursday Night Football — a 36-30 thriller won by Atlanta.
In the AFC, perhaps this is week that the Dolphins begin their resurrection: Star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa recently returned to practice, having missed four games with a concussion. Miami hosts Kyler Murray and the Cardinals.
