Leadership changes announced for TravelPulse Canada

Northstar Travel Group executives Ken Shapiro and Maura Lee-Byrne, who have been actively working with TravelPulse Canada, a sister publication to Travel Weekly that focuses on the Canadian-based travel trade, have assumed editorial and sales roles at the brand.  

Shapiro, a vice president and editorial director at Northstar, will expands his role to include all the TravelPulse brands, including TravelPulse, TravelPulse Canada and AgentatHome, in addition to the TravelAge West editorial group. Shapiro will work with TravelPulse executive editor Eric Bowman and his team on the TravelPulse Canada editorial product.

John Kirk, TravelPulse Canada’s editor in chief, is leaving the company. Also leaving are editorial members Marsha Mowers and Bruce Parkinson.

Lee-Byrne, senior vice president and group publisher, who has managed the TravelPulse Canada sales along with her leadership responsibilities for TravelPulse, AgentatHome and education programs, will take over full responsibility for the sales growth and development for TravelPulse Canada.

Mary Pat Sullivan, executive vice president of marketing and partnerships for Northstar’s Travel Group, thanked Kirk for his “leadership, his industry presence and his passion for the brand,” and recognized Mowers and Parkinson for their consistent editorial voices and presence in the market. “We wish them all the best on their next chapters,” Sullivan said, adding, “We look forward to a very bright future for TravelPulse Canada.”
