India Vs Canada T20 World Cup 2024 Match Abandoned Due To Wet Outfield

IND vs CAN gets abandoned (X.com)

In a piece of unfortunate news for cricket fans, the much-anticipated T20 World Cup match between India and Canada has been abandoned without a ball being bowled due to poor wet outfield conditions at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida.

With that, India, led by Rohit Sharma, remained unbeaten on the group stage and will enter the Super 8 phase as one of the tournament favourites.

Even though the rain stopped long back, the conditions of the outfield remained patchy in the stadium. Hence, despite having two inspections, on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Sharfuddoula decided not to have a game. They did not even have the toss, let alone have a ball to witness.

With three wins and a match with no result, Rohit’s India finished at the top of Group A, having bagged seven points at an NRR of +1.137. Canada, on the other hand, are placed third at the moment, with three points at -0.493.

India will next be in action on June 20, against Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. It will get underway at 8:00 PM IST. After that, the Men in Blue will face Australia, who handed them a heartbreaking defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup last year.
