Canada lost all their group stage matches against Pakistan and the USA. Today, they face India, who have already secured a spot in the Super Eight. Canadian opener Aaron Johnson spoke about Indian players, expressing his belief that MS Dhoni is the biggest cricketing icon in India.
Aaron Johnson, the opener for Canada, has provided decent starts in both World Cup games. He scored 23 runs off 16 balls against the USA and a fifty, 52 runs off 44 balls, against Pakistan.
Aaron Johnson says MS Dhoni is the greatest
Ahead of the T20 World Cup game against India tonight, Aaron Johnson shared his thoughts on Indian players. Johnson believes there are many legends in Indian cricket, but considers MS Dhoni to be the greatest of all.
“India has had a lot of great cricketers but MS Dhoni is the greatest. Sachin is clearly one of the greatest batsmen but unfortunately I think if Dhoni wasn’t around probably then Sachin would have retired without winning a World Cup” – said Johnson to Star Sports.
India won the ODI World Cup in 2011 under MS Dhoni’s leadership, with Dhoni playing the most crucial innings of his career in the final against Sri Lanka.
Sachin Tendulkar fulfilled his dream of winning the World Cup under Dhoni’s captaincy. For this reason, Aaron Johnson believes Dhoni is the biggest legend in Indian cricket.
Tonight at 8 PM IST, Canada will conclude their T20 World Cup campaign with a match against Rohit Sharma’s India. Aaron Johnson will be aiming to replicate his performance against Pakistan in this game against India and end the tournament of high note.
