Former NFL player Buster Skrine is on the run from Canadian authorities after they claimed he missed a court date in his fraud case and removed his GPS monitor.

The retired cornerback reportedly no-showed a meeting with a judge in Durham region this week after allegations of defrauding several Canadian banks with fake checks in 2023.

On Wednesday, the Durham Regional Police Service said Skrine, who had been out on bail since April 12, never showed up to the court date.

Shortly after, authorities reported that his GPS ankle bracelet had gone offline.

On Thursday, the police said they are looking to bring Skrine back and add to his charges for failing to appear and comply with his release order.

Skrine was a fifth-round pick out of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2011. Over his career, he had stints with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, and Tennessee Titans.

Skrine earned $40million in his 11-year NFL career before retiring in 2022.

Additionally, Skrine tallied 3.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, six forced fumbles, and 491 solo tackles in 157 games in the NFL.

He was arrested in Canada on August 9, 2023, for fraud-related charges. Toronto police said the alleged scheme, which saw Skrine fraudulently withdraw over $100,000 in cash, started in September 2022 and was still active at the time of his arrest.

Skrine’s arrest happened at Pearson International Airport after he made arrangements to return Stateside. He faces 15 charges, including ‘fraud and possession of property obtained by crime.’
