Five Roughriders named to All-CFL team

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced their All-CFL team recognizing the top players at each player throughout the 2024 season.  

Five members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders were selected, with four players on defence and one on offence.  

Leading the green and white representation defensive back Rolan Milligan Jr. This past season, the 30-year-old led the league in interceptions (8) and was fifth in tackles. Milligan Jr was nominated by the Roughriders as the team’s Most Outstanding Player, Most Outstanding Defensive Player and the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player. He was selected to be the Western Divisional nominee for the Most Outstanding Defensive Player. 

Also selected was linebacker C.J. Reavis. In his third season with Saskatchewan, Reavis led the team in defensive tackles (89). The 28-year-old led all Sam linebackers in sacks (4) and was fourth overall in the CFL in tackles for losses (5). 

For the fourth time in his career, defensive tackle Micah Johnson was named an All-CFL (CFL All-star). Suiting up in all 18 regular season games, the 36-year-old finished tied for third in the league in sacks (6) was fifth in the CFL in tackles for losses (4).  

Cornerback Marcus Sayles first season in Saskatchewan was highlighted by being named on the All-CFL team. He tied a career-high in interceptions (4) through 17 games after joining the Roughriders following a release from the BC Lions. Sayles finished second in the league with 12 pass knockdowns, which ranks fourth all-time in franchise history. 

The lone representative on offence for the Roughriders is offensive lineman Logan Ferland. The Melfort product played in all 18 regular season games and spent time playing at four different positions. After starting the season at right guard, Ferland was forced to spend time starting at right tackle and more recently at centre. The 27-year-old was announced as the Western Division’s nominee for most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.  

2019 was the last time the Roughriders had five players named as All-CFL (CFL All-Stars).
