New Delhi: India’s last group-stage match against Canada was washed out due to the heavy rain and wet outfield at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida. After the match was abandoned India’s star batter Virat Kohli spent some time with the Canadian players and clicked pictures with them.
India was playing their first-ever T20I match against Canada and it was a fanboy moment and a wonderful opportunity for many players as they don’t get a chance to play matches against a top team. The match didn’t happen due to the damp outfield but Kohli decided to interact with the Canadian players. He took group pictures with them and also spoke with five to six cricketers.
Kohli only managed to score 5 runs in three matches while opening the innings with Rohit Sharma for India. He had an outstanding IPL campaign with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) where he scored 741 runs in 15 matches but he is yet to deliver a match-winning knock in T20 World Cup 2024.
The Men in Blue played three out of the four matches at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York where bowlers dominated the matches and the pitch also provided great assistance to bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah won the player of the match award in the first two matches while Arshdeep Singh won the award in the last match.
‘Nothing to worry about Virat’s form’: Sunil Gavaskar
Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar backed Virat Kohli to score runs in the Super 8 matches. He said that there is nothing to worry about and fans need to show faith in him.
When you get three low scores, it does not mean he is not batting well. Sometimes you get good deliveries. So, there is nothing to worry about. We have to show faith in him…believe that he is going to come good, sooner rather than later” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
