Executive Federal Government Jobs Spike by 42 Per Cent Since 2016: Canadian Taxpayers Federation

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says the number of federal executives in government has exploded by 42 per cent under the Trudeau regime.

The political watchdog says an access to information request revealed that there are currently 9,155 federal bureaucrats classified as executives by the Trudeau government, an increase of 42 per cent since 2016 when the total sat at 6,414.

Executive Director Franco Terrazzano says bureaucracy has ballooned across the board, but even more concerning is that they are swelling the ranks of its most expensive bureaucrats.

The federation says growth has been seen among every class of executives with salaries ranging from $135,000 to $255,000.

About 90 per cent of federal executives get a bonus each year according to the federation, who say the average bonus was just over $18,000.

Terrazzano says taxpayers are paying through the nose because everywhere you look, the size and cost of government is ballooning.
