Dylan Deschamps of Quebec City, Quebec won hid third career World Cup medal on Saturday (Sunday in Beijing, China). He finished third in the second World Cup of the season, and it was Deschamps’s second World Cup medal of 2024-25, as he also won the bronze medal in Chur, Switzerland on October 18.

On Sunday, Deschamps posted a total score of 172.25 points. Matej Svancer of Austria won the gold medal with a total score of 186 points. Tormod Frostad of Norway won the silver medal with a total score of 178 points. Deschamps reached the podium by 1.25 points. Elias Syrja of Finland was in fourth place with 171 points. In big air skiing, competitors go down three times, and the scores on the top two runs count.

Deschamps received support from the judges, who gave him an ovation in the booth after the second jump. The Canadian generated points by grabbing his ski on both jumps that counted in the overall scoring.

Dechamps’s first World Cup medal came on October 19, 2023, as he won the gold medal in Chur. In the 2024-25 World Cup men’s big air standings, Deschamps is in second place with 120 points. Frostad, who won silver in Chur, is in first place with 180 points. The bronze medal for Deschamps in Beijing will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
