Canadian Women’s 3×3 Basketball team falls to .500 at Paris Games

A tough day for Team Canada’s Women’s 3×3 Basketball team with a pair of overtime losses. 

To open Friday’s action, Canada endured a roller coaster affair with the United States, ending with a 18-17 OT loss.  

Humboldt’s Paige Crozon had three points, along with a blocked shot and an offensive rebound.  

Katherine Plouffe led Canadian scorers with ten points.  

It was a back-and-forth game until Canada led by three with 1:05 remaining, but the Americans were able to tie the game with 22 seconds on the clock.  

Canada scored a one-point shot to open the overtime frame, but the United States walked away with the win after a two-point shot from Ryne Howard.  

In their second matchup Spain defeated Canada 22-20.  

 Canada trailed for most of the game but were able to battle back to force a tie at the end of regulation.

 Crozon once again had three points in the game 

 With the two losses, Canada (3-3) is now tied for fourth spot in the standings with the Americans.  

 The top two teams in the round robin receive a bye into the semifinals 

 Canada meets Azerbaijan at 9:30 am, the play in games for teams that finish 3-6 in the standings are Saturday afternoon.
