Canadian Garment Industry in Luck: Rajani Bespoke Brings Savile Row and Milano Luxury Brands to Local Market – Grit Daily News

You shouldn’t have to wait for a trip up to the Row to get your hands on Savile-like suits. The best part is, now, through Rajani Bespoke, you don’t have to.

“The quality of handmade custom garments is meant to last a lifetime, but the decreasing quality offered by retail chains is no longer measuring up and that’s one of the reasons why we launched our business, traveled around the world and forged partnerships with the top fabric mills in the world. We will give nothing less than the absolute best to our clients,” says Zahir Rajani, CEO and Creative Director of Rajani Bespoke.

“One size fits nobody and makers of high-quality clothing are getting harder to find,” wrote The Guardian in an investigative news piece just last year.

From poorly finished seams to templated patterns, cost-cutting in the fashion industry is leading to less comfortable and less desirable clothing.

Rajani Bespoke is putting an end to this by putting the client back in the driver’s seat. The boutique atelier is fully focused on providing bespoke garments, eliminating both made-to-measure and ready-to-wear.

Why?

Apart from the obvious reasons, it’s because if you visit places like Savile Row in London or Milano, Italy, which are known for high-end bespoke tailor shops, well, that’s exactly what you would get.

Savile Row is best known for being the home of hand-crafted British bespoke – so-called because when customers used to choose their clothes, it was said to “be spoken for.” This block in London carries immense weight in the world of luxury and is the global capital of men’s fashion. For over two centuries, this area has been synonymous with grandeur, offering suits that feel as light as air and mold to your figure.

Rajani Bespoke’s owner, Zahir Rajani, believes consumers should not be limited to lower-end garments because of distance and that one shouldn’t have to wait for a trip up to the Row to obtain Savile-like suits. The best part is, now, through his company, you don’t have to.

You Get What You Pay For. Or Do You?

Rajani Bespoke has made Savile Row quality not only more accessible but more affordable, too.

Clothes used to be made with more attention to detail, but because it takes more time to ensure a fabric has been cut so that a print or stripe matches up on the seams, for example, by default, it’s more costly to the maker.

The run-of-the-mill made-to-measure products, which are largely available, are generally mass-produced templates of pre-made designs. You pick a particular style you like off the rack, make some simple adjustments, and off you go. The level of customization is extremely limited.

The depth and pace at which quality has taken a nose-dive has really changed the baseline expectation for the consumer unless they are going to the creme-de-la-creme of tailors and luxury brands, but the truth is the majority of people can’t afford the inflated luxury that’s being offered today. This is a prime reason why Rajani Bespoke has become such a coveted brand in such a short period of time.

The Rajani Bespoke Philosophy

Rajani Bespoke has been extremely picky when choosing whom to forge relationships with. In record time, they have built strong partnerships with select UK and Italian fabric mills to bring the most high-end fabrics in-house.

“With the highest quality materials the market can offer, we can now create products for our customers comparable to some of the world’s most sought-after luxury brands at an attainable cost,” says Rajani. “This is the true meaning of affordable luxury.”

The company serves the Canadian, US, and international markets and offers clients fabrics from brands such as Loro Piana, Dormeuil, and Zegna, to name a few. The atelier is located in New Westminster, British Columbia.  “It’s the Royal City, and a lot of what we do has a linkage and lineage not only to London, Westminster, and Savile Row, but also to Italy and the best that it has to offer.” says Rajani.
