Canada’s economy added 27,000 jobs in May, while unemployment inched up slightly to 6.2 per cent, Statistics Canada said Friday.
April’s numbers saw 90,000 jobs added, with unemployment staying flat
Canada’s economy added 27,000 jobs in May, while unemployment inched up slightly to 6.2 per cent, Statistics Canada said Friday.
Health care and social assistance; finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing; business, building and other support services; and accommodation and food services saw jobs gains.
Meanwhile, jobs declined in construction, transportation and warehousing, and utilities.
Average hourly wages increased 5.1 per cent year-over-year in May, after 4.7 per cent growth in April.
An unexpected 90,000 jobs were added in April, with unemployment staying flat at 6.1 per cent.
