Both the games in New York — the Sri Lanka-South Africa one and the India-Ireland contest, have produced low scores, and it remains to be seen how the pitch will play out on Friday. The pitch has offered uneven pace and bounce, making it difficult for batters to bat on.
One instance of that was when Rohit Sharma was hit on the right arm while batting against Ireland, and had to go off the field after scoring his half-century.
This match adds context to the T20 World Cup in the sense that USA are group leaders with four points after their stunning win over Pakistan in Super Over on Thursday. Having said that, the group is wide open irrespective of whatever Friday’s result will be.
In their first match against USA, opener Navneet Dhaliwal scored 61 whereas Nicholas Kirton scored 51. Wicket-keeper-batter Shreyas Movva (32*) also performed with the bat, and Canada will be hoping for yet another collective batting performance.
For Ireland, apart from a 14-ball 26 from Gareth Delaney, there was nothing much positive to takeaway from the India game and would hope to step up in all departments.
