Canada vs. Greece Prediction, Odds, Picks: Men’s Olympic Basketball

In its first official taste of Olympic action since 2000, the Canadian men’s basketball team enters Saturday’s contest against Greece as a 7.5-point favorite in a jam-packed day for Olympic men’s basketball.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, one of the early NBA MVP odds favorites, leads a star-studded Canadian roster against two-time MVP winner Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece – one of the biggest underdogs by the Men’s Olympic basketball odds.

Here is our best Canada vs. Greece prediction and player props for Saturday.

  • Canada -7.5 (-105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Greece Under 82.5 points (-110) ⭐⭐⭐
  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to lead all scorers (+180) ⭐⭐⭐

Canada -7.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you’ve been following our Olympic coverage, you know I’m bullish on Canada, which I featured in my Olympic basketball predictions earlier this week.

SGA and Jamal Murray are the main draw offensively for arguably the best backcourt in this competition, but the Canadians’ defense and depth should separate them from the field in Paris.

I just don’t have enough confidence in Greece’s supporting cast around Antetokounmpo to expect a close game on Saturday.

A $10 bet will pay a profit of $9.52 if it hits.

Odds: -105 | Implied probability: 51.22%

Greece Under 82.5 points ⭐⭐⭐

You can only glean so much from exhibition play, but it’s not encouraging that Greece scored just 72 points in its final match against Serbia.

That came after it scored 65 in the first exhibition (without Antetokounmpo) and reached just 80 points at full strength in the qualifying final.

This team simply doesn’t have an NBA-caliber roster around its two-time MVP, and it’s facing perhaps the best defensive lineup in the Olympics outside of Team USA. Even if Antetokounmpo pops off for 30 points – which I don’t expect – I have serious doubts about his teammates scoring 50-plus combined.

A $10 winning bet will pay a profit of $9.09 if the bet hits.

Odds: -110 | Implied probability: 52.38%

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to lead all scorers ⭐⭐⭐

Antetokounmpo is the overwhelming favorite in this market (-200), but his points prop total is just three points higher than Gilgeous-Alexander, who is the favorite to lead the entire tournament in scoring.

While Antetokounmpo faces a stiff defensive test, Gilgeous-Alexander should be able to feast against Greece’s inferior backcourt in his team’s first official test of the Olympics.

With these +180 odds returning a $18 profit on a $10 bet, this is a low-risk wager that feels generous for a scorer of SGA’s caliber.

Odds: +180 | Implied probability: 35.71%
