Canada Man/Woman XTRI hosting Canadian leg of XTRI World Tour series – endurance.biz

Canada Man/Woman XTRI, which is billed as an extreme long-distance triathlon and the only Canadian leg of the XTRI World Tour series, will take place on October 6, 2024, in Lac-Mégantic, Québec.

The 2024 edition of the event is its seventh edition. As the only Canadian leg of the XTRI World Tour series, which takes place in 13 countries, Canada Man/Woman XTRI challenges participants to swim 3.8km, cycle 180km, and run 42km on both road and trail, with a total elevation gain of 4,500m.

Alongside the main ultra distance event, event organiser Endurance Aventure is introducing the Relais Tri Mégantic, presented by TAFISA, which aims to broaden the appeal of the event weekend for new participants.

This new open-to-all relay requires participants to take turns completing 1.9km of swimming, 90km of cycling, and 20km of running in teams of two or three people, which can be all-male, all-female, or mixed.

Julie Morin, Mayor of Lac-Mégantic, said “The Canada Man/Woman XTRI World Tour has become a must-attend event for our city. It embodies the spirit of sportsmanship, resilience, and natural beauty of our region.

“We are proud to host athletes from all corners of the globe to take on this colossal challenge, as well as local citizens who choose to push their limits.”

Jean-Thomas Boily, co-founder and Director of Operations at Endurance Aventure noted the importance of the event in nurturing younger athletes. He said “Since the event’s inception, new talents have emerged.

“This is the case with Philippe Gagné, who won the Magog Marathon at just 20 years old. He was greatly inspired by the Canada Man/Woman XTRI World Tour, and we take pride in fostering positive development in young regional athletes.”
