Brissett Earns Canadian Olympic Training Camp Invite – Syracuse University Athletics

Former Syracuse standout Oshae Brissett, who recently won an NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics, has been invited to participate in Canada’s Olympic Training Camp, according to Canada Basketball.

Brissett is one of 20 players who plan to attend the workouts in Toronto that are scheduled to run from June 28 – July 7. The roster will be cut to 12 players prior to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The squad is scheduled to play USA Basketball in an exhibition game on July 10 in Las Vegas.

Brissett spent two seasons with the Orange, 2017-18 and 2018-19. He averaged 13.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game over the two campaigns. He signed with the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and then spent a season in the NBA G-League before inking with the Indiana Pacers in 2021. Brissett then signed with the Celtics in 2023.

Brissett became the first Syracuse player to see court time in an NBA Final since Marty Byrnes with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1980.

Canada qualified for the 2024 Olympics as one of the top two teams in the Americas region at the 2023 FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup. It will mark Canada’s first appearance in the Olympics since the 2000 games in Sydney. Canada has earned one medal in Olympic competition — a silver in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Jordi Fernandez, the head coach of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, is the Canadian program’s coach.
