Beloved former JSU football player signs to play professional football in Canada

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A former Jackson State football linebacker and fan favorite has signed to play professional football in the Canadian Football League.

Aubrey Miller Jr., a 2021 and 2022 SWAC Championship winner with the Tigers, signed to play for the CFL’s Edmonton Elks on Wednesday.

The hard-hitting linebacker totaled 117 solo tackles, 23.5 tackles-for-loss, 8.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles in two seasons at Jackson State. Miller was also named to the Athlon Sports FCS All-America First Team and American Football Coaches Association FCS All-America Second Team.

Before his stop in Canada, the 2022 SWAC Defensive Player of the Year was invited to the 2023 training camp for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins and appeared in two preseason games.

His brother, Ahmad Miller, is entering his sophomore season at Jackson State.
