Air Canada Unveils Basketball Player Vince Carter Themed Aircraft – Travel Radar

Vince “Air Canada” Carter earned his nickname during his seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors. The 47-year-old athlete, known for his gravity-defying dunks, has been named the greatest dunker of all time and is tied with LeBron James on most NBA seasons ever played. Playing for the Toronto Raptors from 1998-2004, Carter solidified his Canadian popularity. Not only was his nickname “Air Canada”, but the arena he played in was sponsored by the airline.

Carter commented:

The city of Toronto and Canada as a whole has meant so much to me throughout my career. I am deeply touched by this tribute from Air Canada.

The livery will fly until the end of April 2025 and is a show of support to the sporting world by the Canadian flag carrier. Air Canada stated that it is committed to supporting Canadian teams and athletes as part of its ongoing commitment to share the best of Canada with the world.  On board the aircraft, in-flight entertainment will also feature a Vince Carter tribute video. Carter officially retired on 2 November 2024, with the livery unveiled on the same day.

In further good news for Air Canada’s passengers, the airline recently received an APEX 5-star global rating award.
