Your horoscope for the week ahead: Have fun blowing off steam — and stirring up some romantic drama | CBC Life

After a particularly busy start to December, the skies will grow calm over the first half of this week, giving us the chance to process our feelings — and prepare for what’s ahead.

Come Thursday, when love-ruling Venus opposes fiery Mars, we may feel tempted to stir up some romantic drama. Singles can take advantage of this passionate aspect to blow off steam and flex their flirting skills; you may even notice sparks start to fly with someone special. Meanwhile, those in relationships could find that this energy inspires them to heat things up with their partner and really make a night of it. Still, it’s important for everyone to stay mindful of how they interact with others under this intoxicating influence. If someone threatens to cross your boundaries, don’t be afraid to reinforce them.

The atmosphere could start to cool off a bit when chatty Mercury in optimistic Sagittarius sextiles affectionate Venus in friendly Aquarius on Friday. This easygoing aspect will encourage us to let our cares melt away, and help to ensure the success of any holiday parties being thrown or attended. On the work front, you may find that this influence puts you in the mood to problem-solve and collaborate with your colleagues. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to ask for a professional favour, this also could be an ideal chance to do so.

Then, on Sunday, the final full moon of the year will arrive in social Gemini, calling us to lift up the people around us and celebrate each other’s unique strengths. Enjoy basking in any feelings of togetherness that this lunation brings up. Just watch that your emotions don’t become too entangled with anyone else’s, as the moon will also square delusional Neptune in sensitive Pisces. You’ll be wise not to take anything too seriously and avoid getting wrapped up in conflicts that don’t really involve you.

Finally, if you’ve been struggling to navigate Mercury’s current retrograde cycle, you may finally get some relief when the planet of communication stations direct in intelligent Sagittarius later on Sunday. As the messenger planet begins moving forward through the mutable fire sign, our collective mental fog could start to clear, sharpening our wits and making it easier for us to get right to the point when speaking. Just be sure to keep tabs on any written correspondence through the rest of 2024, as mistakes are still possible until Mercury clears his post-retrograde shadow period at the beginning of January.

Here is your horoscope for the week of Monday, December 9, 2024.

Aries

You’re not one to shy away from a little competition, Aries. Still, you’ll be wise to mind your manners if you notice things getting a bit heated within your social circle this week. Give others a chance to shine, and save your energy for standing up for others if you notice any injustices taking place. This could also be an excellent week to ask for feedback from people you trust on any projects or ideas that you’ve been mulling over lately. Your friends have a wealth of knowledge to share, and if you’re ready to listen, you could end up creating something truly exciting.

Taurus

Have you been burning the candle at both ends lately, Taurus? If so, this week will be a good opportunity to set your go-getting attitude aside and focus on resetting the balance between your work and home lives. Spending some time listening to your inner voice can help you figure out how to redirect your attention back to what truly matters. Meanwhile, you may notice that everyone seems to have an opinion on what you should do with your money at this moment. Go ahead and listen to what they have to say — just be discerning about whose financial advice you actually accept, and resist simply listening to the loudest voice in the room.

Gemini

Feeling compelled to learn or experience something totally new, Gemini? Running your ideas by a loved one could help steer you in the right direction and allow you push through any self-doubt you may be experiencing. So go ahead and confide in those closest to you this week; their support just might inspire you to take a big leap of faith. Then, this weekend, you may find it useful to carve out some time to reflect upon your recent career accomplishments. If any nagging insecurities or feelings of imposter syndrome happen to crop up in the process, do your best to dismiss them and remind yourself that you deserve success.

Cancer

Try not to get ahead of yourself, Cancer. If a professional opportunity that seems particularly promising comes your way this week, you’ll be wise to run it by people that you trust before you agree to anything. Hidden strings may be attached that only an objective party can see, so try to stay open to their feedback — and watch out for your short fuse. Remember that your loved ones are here to support you, and can help you make choices that align with your values. Then, on the weekend, you could have a flash of insight that should not be ignored. Seize this moment to take action.

Leo

Does something feel off at work lately, Leo? Perhaps it’s time to try out some new tactics, particularly when it comes to navigating your professional relationships. Taking a step back to listen could go a long way, so this week, do your best to avoid speaking over others and focus on offering your collaborators more space to share their ideas. Turning your attention back toward your passion projects could also be a beautiful way to redirect your energy during this time. Have fun brainstorming and letting your creative ideas flow freely. Who knows? One of them might even lead to a promising new business venture.

Virgo

Have you been feeling worn out lately, Virgo? While your natural work ethic is admirable — and certainly valuable — it’s possible that the promise of success through hard work has been dampening your sensitive spirit. So this week, you may want to take a step back to recalibrate and reassess your ambitions. Ask yourself: are the goals you’ve been working toward in alignment with your soul’s true yearning? This could also be a brilliant moment to practise thankfulness for the gifts that you already possess in your life. Focus on reducing busy work so you can spend more time with the people who really count.

Libra

In the mood to flirt, Libra? No matter your relationship status, you may feel particularly called to  show off your charms this week and let your thirst for romance fuel your actions. Your playful attitude is sure to brighten every room you enter, so have fun striking up conversations and engaging in the dance of it all — just try not to lose sight of how you come across. Otherwise, you might unconsciously take the lead when really you’re meant to to follow. Then, on the weekend, a promising new work opportunity could present itself, leaving you reeling with excitement. Try not to overthink things and go after what you want.

Scorpio

Is your need for privacy brushing up against your desire for professional and public recognition, Scorpio? If so, this week could be a perfect opportunity to reflect on how these conflicting desires crop up and seek to reset any imbalances between these areas of your life. Seize this moment to make adjustments and work on establishing more manageable expectations for yourself. Then, on the weekend, you may feel compelled to start paying closer attention to your finances and begin talking about how you can create a stronger foundation. Conversations about security will flourish when you put your loved ones at the centre of your goals.

Sagittarius

When you love something, you want the world to know all about it, Sagittarius. And after spending the past few weeks looking inward, your bold voice will likely be eager to pipe up in conversation. But be wary of overselling your way of doing things this week, as your enthusiasm may inadvertently turn certain people off. Remember: things like wellness practices, diet and routines are highly personal, so don’t be discouraged if people don’t immediately hop on the bandwagon. Instead, let others see the results that you’re achieving and wait for them to inquire about your secrets.

Capricorn

Have faith in yourself, Capricorn. If you feel like your existing responsibilities are preventing you from achieving your professional dreams as of late, keep in mind that you possess almost supernatural time-management skills that can help you reach your goals. Just be sure to also reflect on the pace you’d like to set for yourself so you can actually enjoy the journey — and avoid burning out. Meanwhile, you may feel driven to look back upon the work you’ve created this year. Write down your most notable achievements and give yourself the chance to appreciate them before you start designing new dreams to chase in 2025.

Aquarius

Your unique perspective and creativity have long inspired your friends and family, Aquarius. And this week, the conditions will be perfect to further explore your artistic desires and bring beauty into the world. Use this moment to consider all the possibilities and express your most daring ideas without hesitation. Then, you could feel ready to kick back and relax as the holiday party season heats up this weekend. Enjoy letting loose with your favourite people and dancing your cares away. Rather keep things quiet? This could also be an excellent time to do something special that’s just for you.

Pisces

Don’t hesitate to listen to your inner voice, Pisces. This week, it could have some excellent points to make when it comes to certain career decisions. Seize this opportunity to really mull over all the choices before you and gain new clarity. Then, over the weekend, you could find yourself motivated to switch gears and redirect your focus back to your domestic world. Go ahead and carve out some time in your schedule to reconnect with family and loved ones. Doing so could even help open your eyes to your full potential and encourage you to keep pushing forward toward your professional goals.
