DraftKings once again has released data on sportsbetting trends by fans in Ontario, looking back at 2024.

Not surprisingly, especially when factoring in celebrity factor, Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce was the most bet NFL player, followed by Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles and Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers.

Matthews No. 1

Two Toronto Maple Leafs – Auston Matthews and William Nylander – led the charge on the NHL front, followed by Edmonton Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid. Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks was the most bet NBA player, followed by Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, leading the way again on the league MVP front according to an ESPN straw poll, and Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Ohtani Most Popular

Not a surprise – L.A. Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani is the most bet MLB player, followed by Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the home team Toronto Blue Jays. Ohtani is the betting favorite at DraftKings to win National League MVP this upcoming season, at +200.

The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs are the most bet on NFL team, followed by the Buffalo Bills, currently led by NFL MVP candidate Josh Allen (currently the betting favorite for MVP at DraftKings at -900), and the San Francisco 49ers.

Maple Leafs Most Bet NHL Team

The Dallas Mavericks are the most bet NBA team, followed by the Timberwolves and Boston Celtics, the defending NBA champions.

With their star power, led by Ohtani, it’s no surprise the Dodgers are the most bet MLB team in Ontario, followed by the Yankees and Blue Jays.

And the Maple Leafs, despite having won nothing of substance in 56 years, are the most bet NHL team, followed by the Oilers and defending NHL champion Florida Panthers.
