Canadian football’s Mark Haygood nets 20 tackles, more Amarillo-area top performers

Here are the top performers from the regional semifinal round of Amarillo-area high school football:
Reid Macon, West Plains
Macon threw for 361 yards and four touchdowns in the Wolves’ playoff win against Lampasas. The senior also ran for 47 yards and a pair of scores.
Slade Russell, West Plains
Russell racked up 203 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries, helping fuel a huge offensive performance for the Wolves against Lampasas.
Kane White-Tinsley, West Plains
White-Tinsley hauled in five passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns on offense against Lampasas. On defense, the junior notched six tackles and an interception in West Plains’ win.
Lawson Betancourt, West Plains
Betancourt notched 138 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown catch on just four touches against Lampasas.
Brody Tupin, West Plains
Tupin recorded 10 tackles and two tackles for loss in the Wolves’ playoff win against Lampasas.
Walker Maupin, Gruver
Maupin ran wild against Tahoka, tallying 179 yards rushing and three touchdowns, helping the Greyhounds to a victory.
Briggs Satterfield, Gruver
Satterfield completed 13 of his 16 pass attempts for 221 yards and a touchdown, adding 99 yards rushing and two more scores on the ground.
Stephen Cowan, Gruver
Cowan was the Greyhounds’ leading receiver against Tahoka, hauling in two passes for 101 receiving yards.
Slayden Dickinson, Canadian
Dickinson rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown in the Wildcats’ 27-21 playoff win against Idalou.
Julian Dominguez, Canadian
Dominguez notched 10 tackles, a tackle for loss and the game-sealing interception in Canadian’s win against Idalou. The senior athlete also returned a punt 44 yards for a touchdown in the contest.
Junior Cervantes, Canadian
Cervantes notched 16 tackles and four tackles for loss on defense, adding three carries for 19 yards and a touchdown on offense against Idalou.
Mark Haygood, Canadian
Haygood accumulated 20 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks and three quarterback hurries in the Wildcats’ win against Idalou.
Armando Lujan, Sunray
In the final game of his storied high school career, Lujan threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns, adding another score on the ground.
Connor Petereit, Sunray
Petereit was the Bobcats’ leading receiver against Post, catching eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
