The Canadian Football League has recognized Belle River native Drew Desjarlais.
The 27-year-old Desjarlais, who is a University of Windsor product, was named to the 2024 Divisional All-CFL team for the East Division.
A six-foot-two, 314-pound offensive guard, Desjarlais is in his second season with the Ottawa Redblacks.
Desjarlais, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2019 CFL Draft, is also a two-time nominee for the Most Outstanding Canadian and Most Outstanding offensive lineman.

Desjarlais and the Redblacks will play for a spot in the Grey Cup on Saturday when Ottawa travels to Toronto to play the Argonauts in the semis.
Spitfire duo recognized
A pair of Windsor Spitfires earned player of the month honours in the Ontario Hockey League.
Joey Costanzo was named the league’s goaltender of the month for September/October after posting a 9-1-0-0 record with a 1.90 goals-against average and .934 save percentage.
The 19-year-old Costanzo, who has allowed more than two goals just twice this season, is the first Spitfire to win the award since Mikey DiPietro in December of 2016.
Spitfires’ forward Ethan Belchetz, who was the first overall pick in this year’s OHL Draft, was named the league’s rookie of the month for September/October.
The six-foot-five, 226-pound Belchetz had four goals and 12 points and was a plus six in 12 games. That total included four goals and six points in a Sept. 28 game against Kitchener.
Belchetz is currently competing for Hockey Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia. He is the first Windsor player to capture the award since Cole Davis in November of 2023.

Express sign Blades
The Windsor Express are bringing six-foot-six forward Calvin Blaydes back for the 2024-25 season.
The 26-year-old Blaydes appeared in 26 games for the Express last season, which included three starts, and averaged 4.8 points per game. He is the second player the club has brought back from last season along with guard Latin Davis.
Essibrah an all-star
University of Windsor Lancers’ forward Aislynn Essibrah has been named an OUA second-team all-star in women’s soccer.
A Tecumseh Vista high school product from McGregor, Essibrah completed her fourth season with the Lancers
Essibrah picked up a pair of goals in helping the Lancers to a 4-4-4 record and a playoff spot in the West Division.
