‘My voice is not recovering’: Sarah McLachlan postpones Canada-wide tour due to illness

Renowned Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan has postponed the Canadian leg of her “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy” anniversary tour, citing illness.

“My voice is not recovering, and I need to take this time to heal,” McLachlan wrote on social media Wednesday. “We are working as fast as we can to reschedule the shows and previously purchased tickets will be honored on the new dates.”

McLachlan was scheduled to play 13 shows across Canada from Nov. 1 to Nov. 20.

She had already cancelled a handful of shows in the U.S. after coming down with acute laryngitis – a temporary inflammation in the throat caused by a virus or strain.

“I’ve seen a vocal specialist,” she wrote on social media. “Vocal rest is the most important thing I can do to heal and recover my voice.”

In the comments, McLachlan’s fans wrote messages of support for the singer.

“Take care. We’ll wait,” wrote one person.

“Take care of that instrument—it’s a national treasure! Wishing you a quick recovery!” wrote another.

McLachlan’s “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy” tour, marking three decades since the release of her album of the same name, has been in session for months in the U.S. featuring Nova Scotia-born artist Feist as a special guest.
