Sun looking to rise up in Regina

The British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) champion Okanagan Sun are going to have to travel several thousand miles to try and continue their perfect season this weekend in Saskatchewan.

The Okanagan Sun will be making the long trip to Regina this weekend to play the Prairie Football Champion Regina Thunder in the Canadian Junior Football League (CFJL) semi-final contest against the host Regina Thunder on Sunday.

The Okanagan Sun captured the BCFC’s Cullen Cup this past weekend with a thrilling 23-17 victory over the Westshore Rebels to end an undefeated season.

The contest between the Sun and Regina Thunder will kick off at noon Pacific Time at Liebel Field in Regina.

There will be a Watch Party of the championship game at Dakoda’s Pub, located at 1574 Harvey Ave. with all Sun fans over age 19 invited to attend.

The Thunder earned the right to host the final with a massive upset win, 24-19, over their provincial rival Saskatoon Hilltops.

Regina finished the season at 6-2, their two losses to the hands of the Hilltops who were undefeated throughout the regular season.

The PFC Final has featured the Thunder and Hilltops the past three years, much like the BCFC final between the Sun and Westshore Rebels.

This will be the Sun’s second trip to Regina in the past two years. Their last visit was Nov. 12, 2022, when the Sun defeated the Thunder 21-19 to win the CJFL Canadian Bowl.

The Sun will charter to Regina the morning of Saturday Oct. 26, returning after the game on Sunday.

There will be a limited number of seats on the team charter available to the public.

For details and pricing contact Okanagan Sun President, Nathaniel Nagy at nathaniel@bronag.ca or C.250.859.2968.

The Okanagan Sun Football Club is reaching out to the community to ask for your support and assistance to help with the team travel expenses to Regina.

The game will be broadcast on AM 1150 with Stephen Keppler and Jason Casey behind the microphones for the championship contest.
