Riding a six-game winning streak, the West Division-leading Winnipeg Blue Bombers return home to Princess Auto Stadium tonight looking to secure a playoff spot as they face off against the Edmonton Elks for the second week in a row. After an 0-4 start Winnipeg, and its top-rated defense, have been dominant at home going 5-2 while Edmonton is 3-4 on the road but have won three consecutive away games and are 5-2 in their last seven overall. The Blue Bombers have dominated this series of late winning 11 consecutive games against the Elks, including five in a row at home, with Edmonton’s last victory coming in November of 2018.

Veteran quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, in his sixth season in the CFL and first with Edmonton, ranks third in the league with 3,146 passing yards and comes into tonight one touchdown away from 90 for his career and his third 20-plus touchdown season since 2019. Bethel-Thompson won a pair of Grey Cup championships with Toronto before migrating south to lead the USFL in passing yards in 2023 with New Orleans.

The Blue Bomber defense has allowed a league-low 288 points this season 12 points less than Montreal and have held six of their last eight opponents to 21 points or less. 

Winnipeg running back Brady Oliveira tallied a pair of touchdowns on an 18-carry, 127-yard performance against the Elks last week putting him over 1,000 yards for the third consecutive season.
