RedHawks Finish in Ninth Place at Canadian Collegiate – Miami University RedHawks

MACTIER, Ontario— The Miami University golf team finished in ninth place at this week’s Canadian Collegiate Invitational. The RedHawks completed the three-round tournament with an overall score of 19 above par. Miami finished one stroke behind Rutgers and two shots shy of seventh-place Washington State.

Morgan Blythe led the RedHawks, moving ahead twelve spots on the individual leaderboard Tuesday to tie for 14th place with a total score of 214, or two below par. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Blythe (74-71-69–214) shot an eagle on the 18th hole of the second round, for a second round score of 71, or one below par. His three rounds included 10 birdies overall, and he jumped from 26th to 14th place after the second round.
• Brett Podobinski (73-70-75–218) finished 26th after putting up five birdies in his final 10 holes.
• Matthew Mattioli (70-78-79–227) ended his first round two below par for a score of 70. His first round included five birdies.
• Freshman Tyler Anderson (81-78-74–233) completed his first tournament as a RedHawk with five birdies total. He placed 48th overall, improving his score in each round.
• Nathan Vonderhaar (78-72-87–237) placed 52nd overall. He met par on his second round, collecting birdies on six holes in the process (the fourth, ninth, 10th, 13th, 15th and 18th hole).
