Toronto has 5 wins, 4 losses for 10 points…good for 3rd place in the East Division. The Riders’ next home game is Sunday, September 1st against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. (The Saskatoon Hilltops return to action tomorrow when they visit the Winnipeg Rifles at Noon. The Toppers have 1 win, 0 losses for 2 points…tied for 1st place. Winnipeg has 0 wins, 1 loss for 0 points…tied for 4th place. The Hilltops’ next home game is Sunday, September 15th against Winnipeg. Kickoff time is 1 p.m. at Saskatoon Minor Football Field.)

The P-G-A Tour Americas Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open golf tournament, presented by Lake Country Co-Op, continues today and runs through tomorrow at the Elk Ridge Resort’s tournament course. The field of 156 professionals and top amateurs has been cut for the final two rounds of the 72-hole medal play event. Today is the third of four rounds.

The 13th event of the 2024 Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association season goes tonight at the Sutherland Automotive Speedway. Racing in the Bandolero, Super Truck and Race-Your-Junk divisions starts at 6 p.m. with gates open to the public at 4 p.m.

Saskatchewan International Raceway hosts the Southwinds Showdown today. Spectator gates open at 9:30 a.m. with eliminations beginning at Noon. There is racing in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Street Legal and Junior Street divisions.

The Under-15 Canadian Boys Fastpitch-Softball Championship continues today and runs through tomorrow in St. Leonard-d’Aston, Quebec. A total of 11 teams are taking part with action today involving playoffs and final placement for all 11 teams. The Saskatchewan entries the Valley Blue Jays and Prince Albert Astros from Saskatchewan. The Valley Blue Jays finished preliminary round play with 2 wins and 4 losses…tied for 7th place while the P-A Astros finished with 4 wins and 2 losses…tied for 3rd place. On their schedules today…..

The following Baseball Canada national championships continue today and run through tomorrow… 

The Women’s tournament in Quebec City with nine teams, including Saskatchewan, taking part. The teams are split into two pools for round-robin play, followed by playoffs. Saskatchewan has 2 wins, 1 loss…tied for 3rd place in Pool B. On Saskatchewan’s schedule today… 

10 a.m. – Saskatchewan vs Manitoba 

The Under-18 Boys tournament in St. John’s, Newfoundland, with 10 teams, including Saskatchewan, taking part. The teams are split into two pools for round-robin play, followed by playoffs. The Saskatchewan representative is the Saskatoon Giants. The Giants have 1 win, 2 losses…tied for 8th place in Pool A. On their schedule today… 

10:30 a.m. – Saskatoon Giants vs Quebec

The following Western Canada Baseball Association championship tournaments continue today and run through tomorrow… 

The 13-and-under Triple-A Boys in Winnipeg, with eight teams taking part – including the Saskatoon Cardinals. 

The 13-and-under Double-A Boys in Winnipeg, with five teams taking part – including the Maidstone Lakers. 

The 14-and-under Girls in Spruce Grove, Alberta, with Team Saskatchewan among four provincial all-star teams taking part. 

The 15-and-under Triple-A Boys in Winnipeg, with five teams taking part – including the Saskatoon Astros. 

The 15-and-under Double-A Boys in Winnipeg, with five teams taking part – including the Saskatoon Braves. 

The 18-and-under Triple-A Boys in Winnipeg, with five teams taking part – including the Saskatoon Diamondbacks. 

The 18-and-under Double-A Boys in Chilliwack, B-C, with five teams taking part. 

The Senior Men’s Open in South Delta, B-C, with five teams taking part – including the Marysburg Royals.
