Canada wins thriller to remain undefeated

Canada’s U18 ball team held off Mexico, 4-3, in a game that went down to the wire yesterday in Panama City.

The Canadian team, which includes Cochrane ballplayer Simon Baker, broke the 0-0 deadlock with a four-run rally in the fourth. The Mexicans scored three in the fifth but after that, their bats were kept silent by a deep Canadian bullpen. 

The Canadians head into today’s break at the top of their pool. They’re back in action tomorrow afternoon against the Dominican Republic.

Team Canada is striving to be one of the three to advance to the U18 Baseball World Cup from the 14 nations competing in Panama City.
