Auger-Aliassime headlines Canada’s Olympic tennis squad

Felix Auger-Aliassime, Bianca Andreescu, and Milos Raonic are among the five athletes who will represent Canada in tennis at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Leylah Annie Fernandez joins Raonic, Auger-Aliassime, and Andreescu to make up the singles roster.

The pairings for doubles will feature Gabriela Dabrowski and Fernandez plus Raonic and Auger-Aliassime.

Auger-Aliassime was the highest-ranked Canadian as of the entry deadline, placing 18th in singles.

Paris will mark Raonic’s first trip to the Olympics since 2012, while Andreescu will be making her first appearance at the Olympic Games.

“It is always an honor to represent my country, and I cannot wait to do that again alongside Canada’s incredible team of athletes on the world’s biggest stage in Paris,” Andreescu said in a statement. “This is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to soak up the Olympic atmosphere and give it everything.”

Raonic admitted this is an opportunity that he thought might not happen again, but he will “savor every moment” during the Olympic Games.

Raonic and Andreescu made the roster using their protected rankings, which gave them direct entry.

Heidi El Tabakh will serve as the women’s coach, while Frank Dancevic will instruct the men.
